Pod Volunteer is committed to promoting equality and diversity, recognising that volunteers and employees from different backgrounds bring great value and experience to our volunteering projects and UK organisation.
We aim to ensure that all volunteers and employees are treated fairly and on an equal basis, irrespective of sex, age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, gender reassignment or social status.
We will not tolerate any acts of unlawful or unfair discrimination (including harassment) committed against a volunteer or employee. We are committed to demonstrating consideration, respect and understanding for all fellow volunteers and colleagues, supported by our Volunteer Code of Conduct and workplace procedures.
We welcome applications from a wide range of volunteers and employees based on their skills, qualifications and experience. We only use criteria which is relevant to the role in the selection and assessment of volunteers and employees, and it is optional to provide information on your race, religion or belief, sexual orientation.
We work to ensure volunteering is accessible to as many people as possible, including operating on a non-profit basis to keep our fees as low as possible and offering an annual bursary scheme. We also share our expertise and work with industry bodies, forums and participate in academic studies and research.
We provide advice and guidance on our volunteering destinations and projects to allow volunteers to make an informed choice of where to volunteer. This includes information on local laws, culture and customs, as laws and attitudes can vary significantly between the different countries we operate in.
We aim to make arrangements wherever we can to support volunteers and employees. This includes giving transgender volunteers the option of private bedrooms where available, if preferred.
