Apply for our bursary scheme for volunteers and spend 1 month volunteering in India!

How does it work?

Pod Volunteer awards 2 bursary places each year, where we offer a 4 week volunteer placement in India for only £200. We do this to enable people from all walks of life to join a project, giving you the opportunity to be a part of the life-changing experience of volunteering overseas!

Volunteers who are selected for the bursary join a 4 week placement in India at one of our following projects:

You can join the projects throughout the year, choosing the start date which suits you best. You will simply need to complete your volunteering within 2 years of being awarded the bursary.

What are the costs involved?

There is a reduced Pod Volunteer placement fee of only £200 GBP instead of our normal placement fee. This covers a 4 week volunteering placement, including:

  • Travel insurance - kindly provided by our partner Banner Insurance
  • Airport transfers from Udaipur airport
  • Accommodation in a shared room
  • All main meals
  • Induction to the placement and culture
  • Onsite support
  • Hindi language lessons
  • The following trips: Monsoon Palace – which offers stunning views of the colourful city Udaipur; Waterfront cultural theatre dance and puppet show

Volunteers who are awarded the bursary will need to pay for the following costs:

  • Flights
  • Visa
  • Vaccinations
  • Criminal Records Check (for Community Education role)

Can I fundraise?

Yes! We encourage you to fundraise towards the costs and will provide you with our Fundraising Guide. Our guide is packed full of ideas, tips and resources to help you on the way!

Who can apply?

The Pod Volunteer Bursary Scheme is open to everyone, you just need to be at least 18 when you start volunteering.

When do I need to apply?

The deadline for Bursary Form submissions is the 1st December each year and bursaries are awarded in January.

Are there any other requirements?

It is important that you are in good physical and mental health for an overseas volunteer placement and we will ask for details of your medical background at a later stage. For more information please see our Medical Policy.
