Travel Insurance
We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential. In particular we require that you have extensive medical travel insurance cover. It is important to check that you are covered for doing the voluntary work as well as any activities you may do. Please note that many of the travel insurance policies that are available will NOT cover you while you are doing a volunteer placement.
When you book your flights, we advise you to arrange your travel insurance so that you are covered in the event of having to cancel your trip. Cancellation cover normally starts from the date you purchase your travel insurance and full cover starts the date you leave.
If you are resident in the UK or European Union countries, we work with a specialist travel insurance broker called Campbell Irvine that can arrange cover for you. If you live outside these countries you will need to arrange alternative suitable travel insurance - the best place to start is usually the travel agent arranging your flights but do check carefully to make sure you understand what cover you will be getting.
