Vacancy 2012 – join the PoD team in Nepal

PoD is now recruiting a Volunteer and Charity Manager to support our volunteers and charity work in Nepal. PoD is a leading non-profit organisation arranging ethical, inspiring and supported volunteering opportunities around the world.

It’s a great opportunity to live in Nepal and support the amazing projects there, as well as gain valuable international development work experience for your CV.

Job Outline:

Location: Pokhara, Nepal
Start: 1 August 2012 (3 days UK training in July)
Contract: 10 months, full-time
Benefits: Return flight + travel insurance + accommodation + monthly allowance. 3 weeks holiday

Role details

The role is a mix of activities managing and supporting the PoD volunteers that travel to Nepal as well as helping the ongoing work carried out by the PoD Charity in Nepal.

PoD Volunteer role

  • Booking transport and accommodation for volunteers
  • Meeting PoD volunteers upon arrival and introducing them to Pokhara
  • Providing general support for volunteers and resolving any issues
  • Liasing between the projects, Phil (Nepali placement manager) and volunteers
  • Supporting PoD UK marketing activities including blog posts and Facebook updates
  • Regular contact with PoD UK

PoD Charity role

  • Managing charity activities and inputting to UK trustees
  • Submitting quarterly grant requests
  • Managing grant making and tracking
  • Volunteering every week at some of the PoD projects

Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Charity, volunteering or social work experience
  • Passion for travel
  • Charitable and ethical outlook
  • Sense of humour
  • Team player
  • No level of Nepali is required however willingness to learn would be beneficial
